What is a mood board, anyway?

Depends on who you ask. Everyone agrees it's some sort of collage of images—but beyond that, it varies. In interior design, I’ve noticed mood boards are usually made up entirely of decor: fabric swatches, textures, photos of furniture or styled rooms.
That’s fine—but it’s not how I approach it.

With The Mood Method, mood boards are less about stuff and more about feeling. I use them to help you focus on how you want to feel in your space. A lot of people get stuck chasing a certain aesthetic, and they end up with a room that looks great... but doesn’t feel quite right.
Some mood boards get really specific—but I like to keep mine open, flexible, and true to the actual mood. That’s what helps clients stay grounded in the emotion they’re designing for. And honestly? Once the feeling is nailed down, the rest comes together so much more easily.
